A 220-feet US-India flag flew high in the sky in Boston, a city in Massachusetts, during the first-ever India Day Parade to mark the 75th anniversary of India’s independence in the American city.

The event attracted everyone's attention. The Indian Day Parade was attended by many people from over 30 countries. The event reflected the diversity of India and the United States. India's tricolour flying high in the sky gathered people’s attention.

The parade was led by former Indian cricket player R P Singh. The event was addressed by several politicians from Massachusetts and New England. Many eminent Indian-American celebrities from the region also attended the event.

Community leader Abhishek Singh, the president of the Federation of Indian Associations-New England and the organiser of the parade, said, “The first-ever India Day Parade in Boston was a historic success. All credit goes to the Indian-Americans in the city and the volunteers who worked day and night to make this a grand success.”

According to media reports, Indian cricketer R P Singh was inspired by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for celebrating 75 years of Independent India as "The Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" across the world. He selected Boston for the event because the city is known for America's freedom struggle. The “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” is an initiative of the Indian government to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence of the country.

Reportedly, during the parade on Saturday at the Boston Harbor, an aeroplane carrying a 220-feet India-US Flag flew over the city. On this day, people come together to salute the sacrifice of the brave freedom fighters of India.

Independence Day is celebrated every year on 15 August in India, commemorating the country's independence from the United Kingdom (UK) on 15 August 1947. India was declared independent from the Britishers in 1947.
